Keira Knightley, the 25-year-old British actress and star of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies, has split from her boyfriend of five years Rupert Friend, according to the UK's Sun newspaper. Knightley met the actor when they appeared together in the 2005 film 'Pride and Prejudice' but they reportedly decided to end their relationship shortly before Christmas.
Knightley's father WILL KNIGHTLEY is quoted in the newspaper as confirming the split, saying, "Yes, they have broken up. But that's the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things", before adding, "They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She is focused on her work". The actress is about to star alongside Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss in the play 'Children's Hour' at London's Comedy Theatre. The production, which opens on 22nd January 2011, follows the story of two teachers at an all-girl boarding school who are accused of having a lesbian relationship.
29-year-old Friend, who has starred in the likes of 'The Libertine' and 'Young Victoria', will next appear in 'Five Days Of August', a movie about the Russia-Georgia conflict of 2008.
