Keira Knightley's birthday was made extra special over the weekend (26-27Mar11) when she was honoured as a film hero at the Empire movie awards.
Knightley turned 26 on Saturday (26Mar11) and her Atonement co-star James MCAvoy presented her with the accolade at the London ceremony the following day (27Mar11).
The British beauty was ecstatic to receive the Empire Hero Award on her big weekend, telling the crowd, "It was my birthday (on Saturday) so this is a great way to celebrate turning 26."
Other winners on the night include Gary Oldman, who was handed the Film Icon title.
Christopher Nolan's Inception took Best Film, coming ahead of Oscar-winning The King's Speech, The Social Network, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Kick-Ass, which picked up two awards for Best Newcomer (Chloe Moretz) and Best British Film.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo also took two titles - Best Thriller and Best Actress (Noomi Rapace), while the Best Actor trophy went to Colin Firth.
