Keane have split to focus on other projects.

The 'Somewhere Only We Know' group are calling it quits, with singer Tom Chaplin said to be keen to start a solo career.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: ''Tom's been wanting to make a solo album for a while but has been busy on tour with the band.

''Now he's got some songs written and has put a plan together to release a solo record soon.''

As the band - whose line-up is completed by Tim Rice-Oxley, Richard Hughes and Jesse Quin - look to the future, they will also be happy to have more time to relax with their families.

The source added: ''Every one of their four albums has gone to number one [in the UK].

''They haven't fallen out and will stay close mates. But they've decided it's time to quit at the top and spend time with their wives and families.''

Last night (19.10.13) a spokesman for the band confirmed the break-up, revealed their 'Best Of' record will mark the end of the group as they explore other projects.

He commented: ''Keane are taking a break after the 'Best Of' to pursue their own projects.''
