Katy Perry has posted back-to-back #1 single entries on the Billboard Hot 100, ending Eminem's seven-week reign on the top of the charts. The title track from Perry's new album 'Teenage Dream' rose one place to No.1 on Thursday 9th September 2010. Rapper EMINEM had been sitting pretty with his new single 'Love the Way You Lie', but the track fell to No. 2, allowing Perry to take the top spot. It is the second single from Perry's new record to rule the chart, 'California Girls', which still features in the top ten, was No. 1 for six weeks.
Elsewhere in the Billboard Hot 100, Taio Cruz'S 'Dynamite' managed to hold on to the No. 3 spot, whilst Bruno Mars' 'Just the Way You Are' rose two places to No. 4. American rapper Nelly returned to the top 10 for the first time in more than four years as his track 'Just a Dream' rose four places to sneak in at No. 9.
Perry - who's engaged to British comedian Russell Brand - released her first album in 2001 under the name 'Katy Hudson', however, a change in direction to a more pop-orientated sound saw her 2008 album 'One Of The Boys' produce a flurry of top-ten singles and two GRAMMY AWARD nominations.
