Katy Perry is to guest star in 'The Simpsons' in a special live action episode which will see the animated characters turned into puppets.
The pop star - whose planned appearance on children's TV show 'Sesame Street' was axed after complaints it was too sexy - will appear with The Residents of Springfield in a special live action segment.
The usually animated characters - which include Homer, Bart and Lisa - are to appear as puppets in a segment of the episode, which will air in the US on December 5.
Katy will play the girlfriend of cantankerous bartender Moe and will also be seen by viewers leading 'The Simpsons' characters in a rendition of 'The 39 Days of Christmas', believed to be a spoof of the festive classic 'The 12 Days of Christmas'.
The 25-year-old singer - who shot her scenes in mid-September - will be joined in the episode by TV host Martha Stewart, who will appear as a cartoon version of herself.
In her 'Sesame Street' appearance - a clip of which was released on YouTube ahead of its intended TV broadcast - Katy was seen performing a version of her hit 'Hot N Cold' with red puppet Elmo, whilst wearing a low-cut yellow dress which showed off her cleavage.
Bosses decided to cut the segment after a flood of complaints from parents concerned it was too sexual for young viewers.
However, Katy has received a message of support - from Elmo.
The puppet said: "Elmo loves Ms. Katy and we had a good time. So we'll have another play date."
