The Aussie's hit 'She Looks So Perfect' leads this week's Official Chart Update.
5 Seconds of Summer are on target to claim a number one single in the UK this week, with their hit track 'She Looks So Perfect.' The Australian boyband's catchy new single is selling extremely well in Britain with a reported 71,000 copies of their track shifted, according to the Official Charts Company. That's a lot more than the week's second best-selling single so far, fellow new entry 'Changes' by Faul & Wad Ad vs Pnau which has sold 45,000 units so far.
5 Seconds Of Summer Are Plotting A Course To UK Number One.
The poppy foursome have managed to dethrone last week's number one, Duke Dumont's 'I Got U Ft. Jax Jones,' which was relegated to third place. Martin Garrix's follow up to November's 'Animals,' 'Wizard' with Jay Hardway entered at No.4. Meanwhile, former heavyweights Pharrell and Katy Perry with their respective big-hitters 'Happy' and 'Dark Horse Ft. Juicy J' were assigned 7th and 9th.

Katy Perry has come under fire from feminists once again, but is it really her fault?
Female celebrities just can’t get it right these days. Not only are they meant to pursue their own careers as actresses, singers or whatever else their profession may be, now they’re expected to be political activists as well. Everything they do must be related back to how much of a ‘feminist’ they are: each action is assessed for its level of feminism; each quote dissected to discuss what could possibly be seen as damaging or encouraging to young female fans.
Poor old Katy Perry just can't get it right
Katy Perry is on the receiving end this week, firstly because in 2012 she refused to call herself a feminist and now because she does...but she doesn’t really know what it means. In 2012 Katy told Billboard magazine, “I am not a feminist, but I do believe in the strength of women.” Big mistake. The feminist blogosphere erupted, slamming Katy for being a bad role model. She learned her lesson though, when asked on Sunday whether she is a feminist, Katy’s response was, “A feminist? Uh, yeah, actually. I used to not really understand what that word meant, and now that I do, it just means that I love myself as a female and I also love men.” Um, well, wrong again.

Decadence has come at a hefty price for the successful singer/songwriter.
John Mayer is taking legal action after it emerged that what he thought were vintage Rolex watches were fakes in a scam that has affected celebrities all over Hollywood. The singer-songwriter is reportedly suing jewellery dealer Robert Maron, a friend to actor Charlie Sheen, who allegedly supplied the phony timepieces.
John Mayer Is Suing A Fake Watch Dealer After Being Hoodwinked.
Since his first purchase in 2007, Mayer is said to have spent $5 million buying watches for himself and others before he realised the hoax. In 2010, the Grammy-winning star discovered that one of the watches was fake when he sent it to be repaired, but received credit to buy another when he reported his discovery.

Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry seem to be at each other's throats on Twitter, but why and is it for real?
Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have known each other for years. The pair have been photographed together at events since long before Miley was the peroxide party girl that she is today. That’s why we don’t know whether to take their brewing Twitter feud with a pinch of salt or if these two really are headed for a serious fall out. It all started at Miley’s recent L.A. performance when she dived in to give Perry a full on smooch, and we’re guessing, since this is Miley we’re talking about, that she meant it to be tongues and all! Katy wasn’t at all impressed or interested and immediately yanked her head away from Cyrus before laughing off Miley’s intrusive move.
Katy was taken aback from Miley's move to kiss her
It’s not the first time that Miley has expressed romantic intentions towards Perry, once admitting on Twitter: “Had dreams about @katyperry all night. dayummm that was a good time! #cherrychapstick need to c u more often sloot! Xxxxx”. Perhaps Miley was just taking the first opportunity she saw to make her dream a reality! Who cares if thousands of people were watching?

Katy Perry says she tried to pull away when Miley went in for the tongue during one of her concerts.
Katy Perry has told of how she didn't exactly invite the level of attention she got from Miley Cyrus during a Bangerz tour concert in Los Angeles. Widely circulated footage from the tour sees Miley jumping off the stage during 'Adore You' and planting a huge kiss on Perry, who is known for her hit 'I Kissed A Girl.'
Katy Perry Has Revealed That She Didn't Exactly Invite The Miley Cyrus Tongue-Fest.
"I just kissed a girl and I really liked it a lot," Cyrus announced after she had climbed back onto the stage but it appears that Katy didn't share her sentiment.
The 'Roar' singer laso spoke about getting fit for her upcoming 'The Prismatic World Tour'.
When Katy Perry went to support fellow pop-star Miley Cyrus at her LA 'Bangerz' concert, she got quite a surprise.
The two singers' shared a kiss during Cyrus' performance of 'Adore You,' but Perry wasn't expecting so much tongue!
On Tuesday (March 4th), the 29 year-old appeared on Australian talk-show 'Sunrise' to promote her upcoming world tour, and it didn't take long for the host to ask her about the smooch.

Katy Perry is as known for her fashion sense as her music, here's 10 of her most eye catching looks.
Since she broke onto the scene in 2007, Katy Perry has become pop's most fun fashionista. Always injecting a bit of quirky humour into her outfit choices, we can only admire Perry's bold red carpet choice. Even though there's far too many to choose from, we've done our best to bring you her ten best and most memorable looks (just so we can stop talking about her split from John Mayer).
Katy Perry performing in 2008
1. Our first memory of Katy Perry is as a retro styled singer who enjoyed kissing girls and flower hairclips. Straight from the beginning she showed off her more eccentric side, particularly in this mouthwatering watermelon costume/playsuit that she wore for a 2008 outdoor performance.

Let's not forget, the promo for Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse' is just a terrible video.
Katy Perry's new music video 'Dark Horse' is making headlines across the world for all the wrong reasons. An online petition has attracted nearly 60,000 signatures calling for YouTube to remove 'Dark Horse' from its site. Shazad Iqbal, of Bradford in the UK, launched the petition in the name of blasphemy, saying the treatment of an "Allah" necklace seen worn in the clip is offensive to Muslims.
Looks Like Someone Didn't Learn From The Geisha Incident: Katy Perry Is An Egyptian In 'Dark Horse.'
The pop star plays a Cleopatra-type character in the video, which is apparently supposed to be set in ancient Egypt. An array of suitors are presented to her and she reacts by zapping them all into sand with lightning. It's not the zapping that the petitioners have taken offence at, it's what she zaps.
Conflicting reports circulate as the pop stars keep quiet about their lovelife.
Katy Perry and John Mayer have broken up after 18 months of dating, according to a new rumour. E! News' source claims that Perry has split with Mayer in the last few days despite simultaneous talk that the couple are engaged and due to wed soon.
According To New Rumours, Katy Perry Has Broken Up With John Mayer?
With their busy solo careers, it's hardly surprising that the pair haven't constantly been by each other's side but E! takes their recent geographical distance as an indication that the rumor could well be true. Katy has been busying herself with fashion month activities in London and Milan whilst John has been pictured glumly strolling about New York City.

Calls of sacrilege may be misplaced...
In one of the more surreal collaborations of recent times, pop star Miley Cyrus has teamed up with The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd for a performance of the latter's hit 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1' during the former's concert. During her Bangerz tour show at LA's Staples Center, Miley welcomed the Oklahoman rockers onstage for a cover collaboration.
Miley Cyrus Welcomed The Flaming Lips Onstage For Another Cover Song.
Considering Miley's demographic is comprised of mostly pre-teens, there's little surprise than fan footage from the event shows almost no one singing along with Coyne and Cyrus but The Flaming Lips were given a warm welcome of manic screams nonetheless. Since footage from the 'Yoshimi' cover hit the internet, reactions have been divided between those who think Miley chose a great song to cover whilst showcasing her impressive voice, and those who feel that even with Wayne and Steven present, a classic song has been butchered.
The pop star leapt offstage to plant a smooch on Perry.
Miley Cyrus frequently encourages her audience to make out with each other during her current Bangerz tour and so the pop star decided to show the ecstatic crowd how it should be done. On Saturday night at Los Angeles' famous Staples Center, Miley performed her recent hit 'Adore You' which lead to her sharing a smooch with another pop megastar.
After Encouraging The Crowd To Make Out, Miley Shared A Kiss With Katy Perry.
Katy Perry, who was dancing away in the audience in front of the stage during 'Adore You,' was met by a surprise kiss from Miley, who leapt from the stage. Perry rushed forward and the pair locked lips before Miley squealed with delight and got back onstage to perform.
As Lorde wins the BRIT award for Best International Female we take a closer look at the 17 year old New Zealand pop sensation.
There’s been a ton of buzz around New Zealand singer and songwriter, Lorde, since her first EP The Love Club came out in November 2012. The first single off the EP, Royals, made it to number one in the pop charts in both New Zealand and the US, which means that the 17 year old pop star (yes, she’s just 17 years old which is something to think about for all of us out there who are much older and still don’t have any number one singles) can now proudly claim to be the first New Zealander ever to have topped the US charts.
Lorde doesn't bother dressing up to the nines like the average teenage popstar
But who is Lorde? The sultry star seemingly popped up out of nowhere and is now picking up awards and accolades left, right and centre, including last night winning the much coveted BRIT award for Best International Female before going on to then party the night away alongside fellow pop stars Katy Perry and Ellie Goulding.

Katy Perry talks life, love and letting go of career blunders in this month's issue of GQ.
There’s nothing better for getting you through the week than a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous and Katy Perry, lovable ball of mayhem that she is, has given us just that this week with her new interview in GQ. Besides the sultry photoshoot published along with the interview, Perry also bares her soul in some unusually personal answers.
Underneath the layers of makeup and over-the-top outfits, it sounds like Perry really cares about her music.
The GQ interview was done just before Perry’s American Music Awards performance from 2013 – the one, where she dressed up like a geisha and ignited a string of accusations in cultural appropriation. She defends her choices with the classic performer excuse – she did it for her art, apparently: “All I was trying to do is just give a very beautiful performance about a place that I have so much love for and find so much beauty in, and that was exactly where I was coming from, with no other thought besides it.”

She also spoke about praying for large breasts, regretting that prayer in later life, her dislike of cannabis, losing her virginity, the beginnings of her career and much more, but it was her other worldly beliefs that has caught on.
Katy believes that we are not alone
"I believe in a lot of astrology. I believe in aliens. I look up into the stars and I imagine: How self-important are we to think that we are the only life-form?" she questioned. "I mean, if my relationship with Obama gets any better, I'm going to ask him that question. It just hasn't been appropriate yet."

'Britney Jean' debuted at No. 4 in the chart, while Brooks scored his ninth No. 1
Garth Brooks released his new box set, Blame It All on My Roots, to an eager fan-base last week, who have managed to see it rise from No. 3 in the Billboard 200 to the No. 1 spot this week. Britney Spears saw her new album debut to a rather lacklustre start on the other hand, as it only just managed to crack the top five, debuting at No. 4.
Brooks is back on top with his latest compilation
Brooks' second box set to reach the top of the charts - his first being 1998's The Limited Series - will have undoubtedly been helped by value Walmart were offering the six disc collection for. Initially being sold for $29.98 before a sale price of $24.96 was introduced this week, Blame It All on My Roots will likely be lining plenty of country fan's stockings come Christmas. The box set sold an additional 146,000 copies this week, enough to see it move two places to the top.

Katy Perry's latest studio album 'Prism' is one about heartache and healing, she will now be taking that message on the road with a tour scheduled for 2014.

The 'Unconditionally' singer features as the cover girl 'Marie Claire' for January, and in a candid interview she reveals, "There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, 'OK. All right. I can't feel this. This is too intense right now.'"

The awards show will be presented by James Cordon for the fifth and (apparently) final time.
The Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry have been announced as the first acts to be confirmed for the 2014 Brit Awards, due to take place in February next year. The awards showcase will be held at London's O2 Arena and will be hosted by James Cordon, in what will be his fifth and final appearance as host of the ceremony.
The Sheffield band aren't known for taking the BRITs seriously
Despite a history of mockery and at times a refusal to even acknowledge the awards show, the acceptance to open the 2014 BRIT Awards marks an acceptance from the band that they are now the country's foremost rock act and it is high time that they recognised this and took advantage with these types of performances.

In the run-up to the release of 'Prism', Katy Perry promised fans and press alike that her fourth studio album would not be a sequel to the bubblegum pop of 'Teenage Dream', as the singer claimed to have adopted a more mature sound during the recording of the album. Whether she actually followed through on these promises would have to be seen, but KP has always had the potential to do something special with her work and on 'Prism' she could have given reasonable cause to be considered alongside history's finest pop singers. What unfolds instead is unfortunately nowhere near the standard she should be setting herself and so another sub-standard release is set adrift into the sea of disposable pop albums.
Things have changed, but at the core this is the same manufactured pop that featured so prevalently on her previous releases. On the whole, her songs have lost the summery charm found on her last album, in place of a generally one-dimensional collection of power pop anthems and ballads. She can hardly say she's matured because she's not challenging anything, only changing her preferred singing approach. She continues to follow that steady trail down the path to pop mediocrity where the only side shows are a collaboration with Juicy J - the only collab. on the album incidentally - and the occasional pop anthem that doesn't really stand too far from the pack anyway.
Her singing is pretty good throughout the album, even though the formula for the LP does not change too often, but when the songs do perk up Perry always accompanies the rare curveballs with elegance and veritable ease. Her vocal chops have the potential to front a challenge to the pop order, but she never really gets the chance to try out something distinctive and worthwhile here.

There's rumours of a possible movie adaptation on the radar at the moment for DC's biggest heroine - so who would be your Wonder Woman?
Following Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy and the recent Superman epic 'Man Of Steel', there seems to be one obvious direction to go in next for DC Comics with their film franchises: a Wonder Woman movie, of course. The Amazonian knockout was first portrayed successfully by Lynda Carter in the TV series between 1975 and 1979, and it hasn't yet been put to cinema neither as a solo project for the character nor as a Justice League of America set-up. There have been all sorts of rumours flying about recently with Jaimie Alexander talking a lot about the supposed upcoming Wonder Woman movie and we've got pretty excited discussing who might be considered for the role.
So, who do we think would do the Wonder Woman costume 'justice'?
Jaimie Alexander: The 'Thor' actress has set tongues wagging as she gushed about the character in an interview with Forbes. 'I would love for DC to put Wonder Woman in one of their upcoming flicks, either in her own movie or Batman vs. Superman, or just something even to introduce her', she said. Batman vs. Superman, hmm? Does she know something we don't? On the suggestion that she could be the one to play her, she insisted, 'I'm appreciative to the people who ask my opinion of the character, and that's been pretty amazing.' Jaimie would be perfect for the role given her portrayal of Asgardian strong-woman Sif in the 'Thor' movies, and she even bears an interesting resemblance to Lucy Lawless as 90s TV hero Xena, Warrior Princess.

The People's Choice Awards this year welcome back the usual suspects.
It’s that time of the year again – time for the most important awards of the season, the People’s Choice Awards (wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) This year the favorites are easy to pick out from the crowd. The award show will be held in January and today was the day that the nominees were finally announced.
The super successful Katy Perry is the favorite in several musical categories.
In the world of TV, Glee is the favorite, with eight nominations, proving that nothing can keep this show down. That may or may not be a good thing. Meanwhile, Katy Perry seems to be the people’s favorite when it comes to music. The Roar singer has nabbed five nods. Coincidentally, that’s also Sandra Bullock’s number. The Gravity actress heads up the movie division.

Perry's rise to the top of Twitter coincides with social media flotation.
On the eve of Twitter's initial public offering (IPO), Katy Perry has become the new poster girl for the social media site after her follower figures pushed past Justin Bieber's to reach a massive 46.61 million. The news that Perry is Twitter's most popular user coincides with the company's imminent float on the New York Stock Exchange. The microblogging network intends to price its shares on Wednesday for trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, Reuters' sources report.
Hands Up If You Follow Katy Perry On Twitter!
The website stands to make a fortune estimated in the billions from the IPO after it said on Monday that it was boosting the price range of its IPO to $23 to $25 per share from an earlier range of $17 to $20 per share with the intention to sell 70 million shares. However, Perry on Twitter may not be as popular as she first seems.

He's not impressed, but he isn't the only one.
Hang on, someone doesn’t like manufactured pop music and thinks the likes of Lady GaGa and Katy Perry are a bit fake and rubbish? Jesus Christ we’ve got a visionary on our hands. He’s called Gareth Malone.

So, Katy Perry has done it again and topped the charts with another ridiculously catchy dance tune that people who don't even like it are singing. 'Roar' marked the first release of her fourth album 'Prism' - another chart success - which gives it some emotional significance as when she was writing the record, she was going through a devastating divorce with Russell Brand, and later having relationship troubles with her current beau John Mayer.
With that in mind, you can appreciate the implication of 'Roar', the lyrics of which represent empowerment and personal worth: 'I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire/ Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar'. It feels genuine because you're aware of her personal troubles and that sort of saves it from being just another manufactured pop tune. Sort of. It does, however, make me cringe that it was so heavily inspired by Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger' - and the resemblance goes further than just those four words.
I can't say the song in terms of actual melody stood out as particularly unique; the heavily layered vocals and building crescendo can be found in a good handful of current chart hits; however, I have to admit the driving chorus sent shivers down my spine on the first listen. It has the same vibrancy and energy as Katy's previous hits and has an almost rhythmic tribal beat behind it which went well with the jungle themed video.

On Sunday, 3 November, the internet's brightest viral music videos will be celebrated for the first time
The YouTube Music Awards will celebrate the achievements made online by both well-known and some more obscure (outside the world of viral videos) musicians for the first time this Sunday (3 Oct.) and the organisers have pulled out all the stops to make sure that the awards show starts with a bang. In fact, the awards show will be so extravagant that the man in charge of bringing it to life - Spike Jonze - doesn't even know what to expect.
Spike Jonze (L) and Jason Schwartzman (R) are in control of the night in their respective roles
Jonze, the director of countless award-winning music videos such as Weezer's 'Buddy Holly' and 'Sabotage' by The Beastie Boys, has been brought in as creative director of the event, tasked with making the awards show one to remember and one to challenge the established musical showcases, such as the MTV VMAs. Alongside fellow music video veteran Chris Milk and executive producers Vice Media and Sunset Lane Entertainment, Jonze isn't planning on making a showcase that can be easily compared to the VMAs or the Billboard Awards, for example, as they are going for a completely unique take on the tried and tested music awards ceremony.
Katy Perry's 'Prism' tops the Billboard 200 chart and outsells Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' for this year's biggest sales week by a female artist.
Katy Perry's new studio album, 'Prism', debuts at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, which ended on Sunday (Oct 27th).
According to Nielsen SoundScan, 'Prism' sold 286,000 copies, making it the largest amount of sales by a women this year and the second largest in the Pop music genre.
The largest pop effort of 2013 was Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories', selling 339,000.
The heiress wore Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry outfits to celebrate the spooky holiday.
It's tough enough settling on one Halloween costume idea for most people, let alone affording multiple outfits for different parties but this is apparently what heiress Paris Hilton has chosen to do, starting with a Miley Cyrus ensemble at Hugh Hefner's legendary Halloween Playboy Mansion party.
Paris Rocked Up In Miley Cyrus' Infamous VMAs Bear Leotard.
Though Paris, 32, is known to relish donning outrageous and revealing costumes each year, it looks like she's outdone herself in 2013 with a reported $5,000 spent on Halloween gear which will also include a custom-made jungle outfit like the one worn by Katy Perry in her 'Roar' music video, according to The Daily Mail.

The New Zealand-born teen singer/songwriter is now No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic
Lorde, the 16-year-old singer/songwriter behind the mega-hit 'Royals,' has landed her first number one single with her debut track. The New Zealander beat off competition from X Factor winner James Arthur to claim the top spot, making her the youngest person to reach No. 1 since a then-15-year-old Billie Piper did so in 1998 with her debut single 'Because We Want To.'
The singer has topped both the UK and US chart
“I'm so incredibly stoked about being Number 1 this week and very grateful to all the UK fans who bought 'Royals!'” the talented young songstress told the Official Chart Company after it had unveiled her as the nation's official number one single. With a sound well-beyond her years, the talented teen, born Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, has now conquered the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Singles Chart earlier this month.
Perry promoted her new album alongside Ellie Goulding, Sara Bareilles, Tegan and Sara and Kacey Musgraves to raise breast cancer awareness.
Pop star Katy Perry was the jewel in the crown at the Hollywood Bowl's All-Star benefit on Wednesday (23rd Oct.) where she performed music at the end of a night that also saw performances from Ellie Goulding, Sara Bareilles, Kacey Musgraves and Tegan and Sara. Together, all acts were united in their goals to raise awareness about breast cancer for the support charity, Young Survival Coalition.
Perry Put Her Unique Spin On An Evening To Support Cancer Sufferers & Raise Awareness.
"We're survivors - that's why we're here," Perry told the teeming crowd during her headlining set. However, Perry's set was framed as Katy Perry's We Can Survive which was a valuable exercise in promotion for her just-released album, Prism. In interviews for her new album, Perry has continually referenced events in her life, such as her divorce from comedian Russell Brand, that inspired her to come back with an empowering survival album about how each tough event has only made her come back stronger.

Katy Perry's new album 'Prism' takes us through her romantic turmoil and her strengthening character as her sound reaches maturity.
Katy Perry has certainly done a lot of growing up since the release of her number one album Teenage Dream - and the stark realities she's faced are clear in Prism.
The 'Roar' hitmaker has explained that several of the songs on her new album are '100% autobiographical' and admitted to USA Today that she 'was a ball of vulnerability' while writing the tracks.
Most of the emotion came out of her devastating divorce from her husband of 14 months Russell Brand, which led to her experiencing often suicidal feelings in which she addresses in the track 'And By the Grace of God'. Her song 'Ghost' is another tune directly referring to a text that Brand said asking for a divorce. Her not so straightforward relationship with singer John Mayer also contributed to some of the pain in 'Prism', but it hasn't all been doom and gloom.

The 1D star wrote "I love you, will you marry me?" following Perry's 'X Factor' performance over the weekend
One Direction's Niall Horan has a bevy of female fans that would jump at the chance just to share the same air as him, but the Irish boyband star only has one girl on his mind; Katy Perry. Following Perry's Saturday night (19 October) performance on The X Factor, Horan was so overwhelmed with the buxom singer that he was compelled to profess his love of the 'Roar' hit maker.
Niall has a thing for Katy, and isn't afraid to let her know
"I love you @katyperry! Thank you! Ps. Will u marry me?" the 20-year-old joked in his tweet. So far, Perry hasn't replied to the initial tweet, but maybe she's just being coy.
The countdown to 'Prism' is on.
Katy Perry has already established herself as the reigning queen of pop – after Britney vacated the post to move on to bigger and sexier things – but now it looks like even Ms Perry is moving into more serious territory with her third release, Prism. The album is due to be released this coming Tuesday and it shows some sides to Perry’s music that we’ve never heard before.
Perry returns, sans whipped cream bra this time.

The track will serve as the second single from her upcoming third album, 'Prism'
Katy Perry has a brand new single coming out called 'Unconditionally,' and ahead of it's official release, the track has made it's way online. The follow-up to her mega-successful comeback single 'Roar,' the track was produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut and was confirmed as the second single from Prism, her upcoming third album, by Perry in a recent interview.
Prism will be out on 22 October
We've already heard 'Roar,' and Perry has also pre-released the album tracks 'Walking On Air' and 'Dark Horse,' however the American songstress has said that of all the tracks on her next album, 'Unconditionally' is her personal favourite. Speaking with MTV News last month, the singer revealed that the track is a slow-tempo love song, one that will hopefully resonate with whoever listens to it, be they male or female, fans or not fans.

Katy Perry calls John Mayer a "genius", reveals how low she was after splitting from Russell Brand and her next single from upcoming album 'prism'.
The 28 year old singer discusses her divorce from English comedian Russell Brand and reflects on what a dark time it, even questioning if she wanted to "continue living".
Their break-up eventually inspired the song 'By The Grace Of God' as she explains "That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point".
Ahead of her stint on 'Saturday Night Live,' the returning host poked fun at her recent exposure at the Emmys
Tina Fey has let it all hang out again! This time though, she did it on purpose, as the award-winning comic writer mocked her apparent 'nip slip' at the at the Emmys last weekend (22 Sept.) during a promo clip for her upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live. Fey is returning to the show where she made her name to host the first episode of the 39th season of the variety program when it returns this Saturday, 28 September.

Standing alongside curent SNL mainstay Kenan Thompson, the two were whipping up anticipation for the new season of the show when at the end of the promo Kenan promised "There will be no more wardrobe malfunctions like at the Emmys," before turning to Fey and adding, "Unless you want to do one?"

On Tuesday (17 Sept.) the new single was unveiled as the pre-game, in-game and postgame song at Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium, but on Friday stadium bosses decided to ease down on their use of the song
Katy Perry scored one of her biggest hits to date when she released her comeback single 'Roar' earlier this month. The track has only just been ousted from the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 after a two week stay and shot to the top of the itunes Chart almost as soon as it was released, however not everybody is a fan of the song; and many are Cincinnati Bengals fans.
Perry just isn't rock 'n' roll enough for Bengals fans
On Tuesday, 17 September, when Cincinnati tok on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a home game at the Paul Brown Stadium, the song was unveiled as the team's official anthem, playing before, during and after the game. With lyrics like "I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire/Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar," the song looks as though it ticks the boxes for a sports anthem, but a number of disgruntled fans agree.
The singer has become PETA's latest target.
It looks like animal rights organization PETA has found its new cause célèbre in the face of none other, but Katy Perry herself. The singer has come under fire for using animals in her latest video for the catchy chart topper Roar. According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the exotic critters used in the Roar video are likely to have been subjected to abuse.
For such an animal lover, Katy Perry might have a few sins under her belt.
The organization based these claims on the questionable track record of the company, which supplied the animals for the shoot. This according to a statement by PETA spokeswoman Merrilee Burke’s statement for The Daily Star. In her statement, Burke explained: “Animals used for entertainment endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods. “They often become stressed and anxious when hauled around and forced into unfamiliar and frightening situations.”
Tina Fey will host the first week of the sketch show's new season, followed by the always 'interesting' Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus will have a chance to redeem herself in the eyes of her peers, to an extent at least, when she takes on hosting duties on the second week of Saturday Night Live's next season. The hit sketch show will return for it's 39th season on 28 September, with Cyrus standing in as host the following week.
Miley Cyrus will host the second week of the new season
Tina Fey will return to the show where she made her name as the host of the first week of the new season, with Arcade Fire serving as her musical guest. The week after that will be The Miley Cyrus Show, with the oft-talked about star serving as both host and musical guest in what will no doubt be a sure fire way to boost the ratings, for better or worse. Her 5 October performance can work one of two ways for Miley, either she talks her recent behaviour in good jest and routinely lampoons herself and her newly acquired stage antics, or she gets all uppity and people stop pitying her and start actually hating her. Hopefully, it'll be the first option.
Katy Perry’s pop anthem Roar is justifying its name and storming the Billboard chart. The motivational tune, which features lines like: I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire/Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR” really couldn’t have been anything less than a chart topper. Roar has finally dethroned Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines in the Billboard chart and that’s even before the official video for the single has come out, though Perry has already released a trailer. The song is Perry’s eighth number 1 on the Hot 100 list and it concludes Thicke’s record breaking 12-week reign.
Check out Perry's wild teaser for the Roar video below.
The world will get to hear the rapper's verse on Katy's track "Dark Horse" on September 17.
Katy Perry is a joy to work with, according to rapper Juicy J, who dropped a verse on the Roar singer’s upcoming track, Dark Horse. Juicy J’s verse has not reached the public yet, as the brief snippet Perry released recently included only her vocals. However, when asked “whether there had been any twerking” in between takes in the studio, J said for RapFix Live, via MTV News.
Juicy J loved working with Katy Perry.
"No, no, no, no. She's very professional, everything went smooth and she's a great person," he said. "My verse I did on that song, she was singing it. She's really a genius, she was by the mixing board and telling the guy what to take in and take out. She's really hands-on with her music, she knows music."

Katy is rebellious royalty in new promo video.
Katy Perry has launched her third perfume 'Killer Queen,' sold in a sceptre-shaped bottle in a royal shade of red. The supposedly regal scent, priced from £23.50, is marketed as "lethally gorgeous" with Perry herself parading about in ermine in the opulent promo video.
Katy Perry Has A Penchant For The Decadence Of Royalty.
Using the slogan "Own The Throne," the ad shows Katy as an 18th century Queen, clad in powdered wig and being dressed in corsetry and framed skirts by bustling servants. After becoming exasperated with all the attention and tight undergarments, Queen Katy whips out a knife, cuts off her skirts and lets lose her hair before storming the throne room.
The singer has maintained his spot atop the Billboard album chart for a second week running despite strong pushes from new releases
Luke Bryan sure is having one heck of a 'party' as he celebrates holding on to the number one spot on the Billboard album chart for a second week running with the LP Crash My Party. The country star managed to battle off competition from a number of new releases, but he held strong and kept his place atop the album charts for one more week.
Bryan is at No. 1 for a second week
According to Billboard, the Nielsen SoundScan shows that Bryan's album is around 15,000 copies better off than his nearest competitor; John Mayer's Paradise Valley, a debut album in the album chart. It wasn't just Mayer whose latest release Bryan was fighting off either, as new releases; Three Kings by R&B supergroup TGT, Jimmy Buffett's Songs From St. Somewhere and rapper and Odd Future affiliate Earl Sweatshirt's debut album, Doris. Another debut hip-hop release, Trap Lord by A$AP Ferg, also entered the top ten, coming in a nine.

Katy Perry is roaring ahead in the singles charts, despite Gaga inciting a fan frenzy to get her to No.1.
Singer Katy Perry looks likely to secure her eighth US No.1 song after selling 450,000 copies of her new single 'Roar' in its first week of release. Lady GaGa, who has also dropped new track 'Applause' within the last few days, is left languishing at 225,000 copies.
Katy Perry Looks Likely To Secure This Week's No.1 Single.
Gaga's 'Applause' wasn't supposed to be released until this weekend but a leak on Monday (12th Aug) prompted the 'Poker Face' singer to declare a "911 pop emergency" and drop the track straight away to combat the pirates. This sparked a furious chart war between the two popstars who suddenly found themselves competing for the week's best-selling track earlier than intended.
