Katie Holmes will star as Jackie Kennedy when her drama series 'The Kennedys' premieres on the 'ReelzChannel' network in April 2011.
KATIE HOLMES and the cast of 'The Kennedys' have finally found a home for their controversial mini-series, after the drama was initially rejected by the History Channel, reports People Magazine.
'ReelzChannel' have picked up the eight-part series, which cost $30 million to produce, and the first episode is scheduled to air on 3rd April 2011. The network's CEO, STAN E. HUBBARD, said he was pleased to bring a thought-provoking show to 'ReelzChannel', adding, "We don't enjoy controversy or want to pick a fight, but the history is the history. When you watch this, there are incredible successes and unbelievable tragedies. The family stays together and they're loyal to each other and to the country throughout the highest highs and the lowest lows". The History Channel rejected the show for its apparent historical inaccuracies and a rep for A&E Television Networks said, "After viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand".
As well as Holmes' starring role as the former First Lady and Greg Kinnear's performance as JOHN F. Kennedy, British actor Tom Wilkinson plays JOSEPH P. KENNEDY SR and CHRIS DIAMANTOPOULOS plays the role of crooner FRANK SINATRA.
