Katie Holmes' new horror movie 'Don't be Afraid of the Dark' has found a US distributor and will be released on 12th August 2011.
KATIE HOLMES will star in the forthcoming horror flick 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' after the movie finally secured a release date following months of delays, according to OnTheRedCarpet.com.The film is a remake of the 1973 television movie of the same name and has been co-produced and co-written by the acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, who deems the original "among the scariest ever made". The movie follows the story of a young girl, played by Bailee Madison, who moves to a 19th century mansion in Rhode Island with her parents, played by Guy Pearce and Holmes. As the family begin to restore the old building, the girl stumbles upon a hidden basement and begins to hear mysterious voices. The film was originally planned to hit cinemas in January but the project stalled after Disney sold Miramax.
Holmes will also feature in the eight-part mini-series 'The Kennedys' later this year, which was picked up by ReelzChannel after being rejected by FX and The History Channel. The actress plays the former First Lady JACQUELINE KENNEDY, with Greg Kinnear playing the President JOHN F. KENNEDY.
