Katie Holmes ' first post-divorce movie looks as though it may be a case of life imitating art. Holmes recently filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, to whom she has been married for over five years. Her latest movie venture, entitled 'Molly' tells the tale of a single mother and daughter. People magazine have reported that 33 year-old Holmes will start production on the movie next week. They also reveal that she co-wrote the script and will be co-producing the film.
Filming for the movie is scheduled to last into late August and will be filmed in New York City, where she is currently understood to be living, in a three-bedroom apartment with daughter Suri, 6. Though neither Tom nor Katie have spoken publicly about the divorce, it is understood that Katie was unhappy with the control that Tom had over her career. It seems, now that she has filed for divorce, that she is keen to get her work life back on track. In May, she finished filming a modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov's 'The Seagull' and is also due to start working on 'Responsible Adults' with Chace Crawford, later this year. Amidst the movie work, Katie is already planning her first ever New York Fashion Week show, for her clothing line Holmes and Yang.
Katie has reportedly fired the PR company that she had been using during her marriage to Tom Cruise and has reverted to the company that she used prior to meeting him. The couple's respective lawyers are working on a settlement, with regards to the custody of Suri; a source told People magazine that they are keen that the settlement is resolved in private.
