LATEST: Actress Katie Holmes' will return to the small screen with a guest role in U.S. TV show ELI STONE, network bosses have confirmed.
Holmes was rumoured to be appearing in the comedy series when it returns to the air this autumn (08), after the show's producer tapped her for a part.
And ABC network president Stephen MCPherson confirms: "I was at the table read and she was fabulous. It's a great role for her. There's some singing and dancing that she does, and she's exquisite."
The series centres around attorney Eli - played by Jonny Lee Miller - who has an inoperable brain aneurysm that allows him to see the future.
Holmes is expected to play another attorney in one hour-long episode.
Eli Stone executive producer Greg Berlanti previously worked with Holmes on Dawson's Creek - where she rose to fame playing teenager Joey Potter.
Berlanti adds: "Knowing we wanted to bring eyeballs to the show and get people to talk about it, I went to Kate, whom I hadn't worked with since Dawson's Creek, and begged her. She said she'd be delighted to do it... This is not a one-scene, two-scene thing. She does a lot of work in this episode."
Holmes' episode is set to air 21 October (08).
