Fact: INTO THE WOODS actor-turned-late night TV presenter James Corden was given a scare on Wednesday (01Apr15) when his guest, U.S. newswoman Katie Couric, pretended to fall down the studio stairs as she made her big entrance on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN. The Brit rushed to her side as she lay lifeless on the ground, only to discover she was a stuntdouble. The real Katie Couric appeared at the top of the stairs and revealed the prank was an April Fools' Day joke. As he recovered from the shock, he quipped, "I was like, 'Oh, my God. Katie Couric just died'."

Fact: U.S. broadcaster Katie Couric is mourning the loss of her mother, Elinor H. Couric, who passed away on Thursday (04Sep14) at the age of 91. In a message on Twitter.com, the newswoman writes, "My heart is broken. I lost my mom and best friend. We love you and miss you, Mom/Granny."

Fact: Veteran U.S. Tv host Katie Couric is heading down the aisle after accepting a proposal from her financier boyfriend of nearly two years John Molner. The 56 year old newscaster got engaged after Molner popped the question with a diamond ring. She was previously wed to Jay Monahan until his death in 1998.
