Katherine Jenkins hasn't endured an easy festive period after revealing on December 30, 2011, that her and fiancee Gethin Jones had split after just over four years together. The pair bought a house together in 2010 and seemed delighted at their engagement in February of last year.
A consummate professional, Jenkins nevertheless soldiered on with work despite the freshness of the announcement, singing in public in Oxford, UK over the weekend. The 31 year-old looked as dazzling as ever in a jewel-encrusted white gown, reports The Press Association, however it didn't take long for the cracks of recent weeks to show as upon completion of her first song the Welsh star broke down in tears, being comforted by the conductor of backing orchestra Anthony Inglis. Composing herself, Jenkins told the crowd "it's been tough," but afterwards got herself back together and completed an emotional set right through to its end.
Reflecting on the evening, conduction Inglis took to Twitter to write "What an emotional evening. So wonderful to see the strength of kathjenkins. Glad I could come to the aid with a hankie. Needed one myself." Jenkins and former 'Blue Peter' presenter Jones initially met in late 2007, they were due to wed this year.
