Actress Katherine Heigl, her singer husband Josh Kelley and R&B star Ne-YO have been honoured for their foster care work and commitment to adoption.
Bosses at the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute recognised all three stars as National Angels in Adoption during their awards gala in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday (13Sep12).
They saluted the trio for helping to enrich the lives of young children abandoned by their birth parents.
Ne-Yo was applauded for creating the Compound Foundation, which supports kids in the welfare system, and Kelley and Heigl were celebrated for welcoming two young tots into their family and serving as adoption advocates.
Former Grey's Anatomy star Heigl, whose sister was also adopted, said, "Adoption has always been a part of my life and my family. Josh and I are honoured to be selected as National Angels in Adoption and we hope this recognition will help raise awareness of the millions of children worldwide who are without families."
