Kate Winslet has missed out on a $900,000 (GBP500,000) windfall from the sale of the home she shared with her first husband.

The Titanic actress sold her five-bedroom house in Walton-On-Thames, near London, for $1.77 million (GBP985,000) two years ago (02).

But the property - which she shared with ex-spouse JIM THREAPLETON - is now valued at $2.7 million (GBP1.5 million).

A spokesperson for estate agents WATERVIEW explains, "Kate bought the house and did very little to it.

"There was so much to take on when the place was sold in 2000, including improving security which I'd have thought improving security would have been top of Kate's list."

Winslet now lives in a $5.4 million (GBP3 million) manor house with husband Sam Mendes and her two children in England's Cotswolds area.
