Actress Kate Winslet can add animation to her Hollywood resume after signing up to voice the lead role in new cartoon feature FLUSHED AWAY.

The TITANIC star has agreed to lend her vocals to the latest creation from AARDMAN ANIMATIONS - the team behind CHICKEN RUN - about the adventures of sewer rats.

The company will produce the film in Los Angeles instead of their Bristol, England, headquarters to accommodate the sheer scale of the ambitious computer-generated project.

Aardman co-founder DAVID SPROXTON says, "We simply are not scaled up for a full CGI feature."

Flushed Away - which centres on RITA the rat who teams up with a posh rat in the sewer city of Ratropolis - also features the voices of SIR Ian McKellen, Bill Nighy and Andy Serkis.

The movie's due to hit cinema screens in 2006.
