British actress Kate Winslet gave her newborn son the middle name Blaze to commemorate the terrifying house fire which brought her together with her husband.
The Titanic star met her partner, Ned Rocknroll, during a vacation at his uncle Sir Richard Branson's luxury island retreat in the Caribbean in 2011, when the luxury property on Necker Island burned down.
Winslet and Rocknroll, who both escaped the fire unharmed, decided to mark the dramatic moment by giving their son Bear, who was born in December (13), a fitting middle name.
The actress tells U.S. Tv host Ellen DeGeneres, "Bear's second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically. Well will did. The house burned down and we survived. So we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with."
She adds of the youngster's unusual first name, "A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear. And I just sort of always really loved it. He was very much a bear. He was everyone's shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug and he was just this great figure in my life... I just always remembered him so that's where that came from."
