Children of celebrities never have to go to normal schools where the other children will make fun of their wacky names, which means that the stars can go wild when naming their pampered offspring. There must be schools in Beverly Hills teaming with Donatello Zeuses and Princess Bananaramas.

You don’t come across many Janes or Johns in the celeb baby world, but funnily there seems to be a few Bears going around at the moment. Kate Winslet and Alicia Silverstone both have sons called Bear, although to set mini Winslet apart his middle name is Blaze, as a reminder of the house fire that his parents first met in. Romantic.  As a side note, Winslet's husband changed his own name to Ned RocknRoll, so we're not surprised that the couple have chosen a name that is a little less out of the ordinary.

All of Bob Geldof's daughters with Paula Yates have particularly different names.  Take Fifi Trixabelle for example. She sounds more like a character from a Barbie movie than the daughter of a legendary rocker, but it seems that Paula had a penchant for fairytale names. Her daughter with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence was called Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence.

Another of Paula and Bob’s daughters, Pixie, seems to have inherited her mum’s passion for peculiar names. Her own sons are called Astala Dylan Willow and Phaedra Bloom Forever.

Throughout Kim’s pregnancy the press joked about how funny it would be if they called their daughter North. Of course, nobody would be so ludicrous as to call their daughter North West, the entire thing was just laughable. Oh...wait.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale aren’t known for being the most conventional of couples, highlighted by their recent decision to call the newest addition to their family Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale. Apollo joins his brothers Kingston James McGregor Rossdale and Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. We can’t help but think the names get more outrageous each time Gwen has a baby! We’re taking bids on what their next child will be called, although it’s really anyone’s guess.

Beyonce and Jay-Z were never going to call their daughter something simple yet pretty, were they? The power couple chose to call the merging of their supergenes Blue Ivy. Ivy was allegedly chosen as the couple have an obsession with the number 4, which in Roman numbers is IV. Ah, we get it (we don’t).

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have produced two little ‘uns, a son called Moses and a daughter called Apple. Gwyneth told Oprah “basically it was because when we were first pregnant, her daddy said, it it’s a girl I think her name should be Apple. And I just, it sounded so sweet.” That solves that mystery.
