Screen star Kate Winslet's plans for her new $4.5 million (GBP3 million) home in Gloucestershire, England, are to be thrashed out at a public meeting next month (JUN03).

Kate and her boyfriend, Road To Perdition director Sam Mendes, have been frustrated in their efforts to win approval for alterations to their manor house.

Council planners are unhappy with some of the proposals put forward for the inside of the 17th century listed house, formerly the home of wildlife artist RAOUL MILLAIS and boasting eight bedrooms and 22 acres (9 hectares) of grounds.

Cotswold District officers and agents of the celebrity couple have been trying to thrash out a compromise since March (03).

But with no agreement in sight it was today (29MAY03) decided that councillors will have to rule at a planning committee meeting on what can and cannot be done to the house.
