Supermodel Kate Moss has become the latest muse of controversial artist Marc Quinn, who plans to immortalise the catwalk queen in a series of five bronze sculptures.

The British artist, who famously froze eight pints (3.8 litres) of his own blood in a cast of his head, has hailed the British beauty as a modern Aphrodite - the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

His new work will trace Moss's troubled personal life through a series of "extreme and contorted poses", he revealed on Sunday (05FEB06).

Quinn explains, "Kate Moss is iconic now because she's come to signify what beauty is in our eyes.

"She is sculptured by the collective desire, so having her in contorted poses is about the way that society sculpts, twists and manipulates her and her image."
