Kate Moss is to pose completely naked for Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine for its 60th anniversary issue. The rumours that began in June have been confirmed as the British model will pose for the cover the same month she turns 40-years-old.

The editorial director of Playboy, Jimmy Jellenik, exclusively confirmed the rumours to The Los Angeles Times that she has will be appearing on the front cover of Playboy.

Jellenik said, "You need a global icon in order to celebrate that - that was the impetus. You're talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy. She's the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years."

The 39-year-old dominated the 90's fashion scene, from her iconic shots with Mark Wahlberg for Calvin Klein to appearing on the front cover of British Vogue 30 times. The modelling icon also recently posed bare in a V Magazine shoot with no top on with photographer Mario Testino. The founder of the worldly popular magazine, Hugh Hefner also expressed his joy in Moss agreeing to do the photo-shoot. He said, "She's a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modelling".

The shoot, by Marcus Pigott and Mert Atlas commemorates 60 years of Playboy magazine, and the men's favourite has had its fair share of supermodel' gracing its cover, from Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Elle MacPherson.

The shots have already been taken and are expected to be released for the January/February issue of Playboy celebrating its 60th Birthday.
