Brakes Trailer

'The Mighty Boosh' duo Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt have reunited for a brand new comedy movie which has been amusingly dubbed an 'anti rom com'. Just as intriguing as it sounds, 'Brakes' is chock-full of some of the finest British acting talent we have today.

Set in London, this dark comedy follows a set of nine very different couples who are all going through some kind of weird break-up. As unusual as the reasons behind their separations are, it's nothing compared to what we later discover about how they met and fell in love in the first place.

The Krays Review

OK
The Brits love their gangster movies, especially when they're about, er, Brits. Here we have a tale of twin brothers in the 1930s who, thanks to early traumas, ended up turning from upstanding youths into die-hard racketeers. This is their story (from childhood to incarceration), dutifully (and rather artlessly) chronicled on film. Not much to see here, move along.

Mona Lisa Review

Excellent
Neil Jordan knows movies are a form of art. While much of his work carries a distinctive artistic style, his involving 1986 drama Mona Lisa even carries the title of the famous painting of a dark, serene, mysterious woman with a slight grin on her face -- the Mona Lisa.

Croupier Review

Very Good
Mike Hodges, best known for the lean and mean Get Carter (1971), returns to form with Croupier. This polished throwback to the wit and economy of British thrillers from the late '60s and early '70s certainly has style to spare, but like its smooth operator protagonist, it lacks a soul.

Down on his luck novelist Jack Manfred (Clive Owen, handsome and angular as a young Sean Connery) is forced to make ends meet by taking a job at a high stakes casino. He's a croupier, or dealer, operating with cold precision. He sizes up gamblers who line up as the roulette wheel to try their luck.
