British actress Kate Beckinsale has alienated herself from cast and crew on the set of her new movie - who accuse her of being a diva.

The PEARL HARBOR star is currently filming Van Helsing, about the legendary vampire hunter, in the Czech Republic.

But it seems Kate has far from endeared herself to her colleagues on location.

An on-set source tells British tabloid the DAILY MAIL, "She gives the distinct impression of looking down on the people around her. Her manner is very much: 'I'm a big star'. People have been very surprised about her attitude."

Beckinsale has faced similar criticism in the past.

A colleague at OXFORD UNIVERSITY - where Kate studied in the early 1990s - says of the 29-year-old actress, "She didn't have many fans. She was always a little haughty and aloof. Some people thought she might just be shy, but most of us felt she thought she was a cut above. She didn't waste time talking to people she didn't think would be useful."

She is even accused of displaying diva-like qualities after landing a role alongside Ben Affleck in 2001 movie Pearl Harbor.

A source tells the Daily Mail, "When she did Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck, she apparently wouldn't agree to meet him at first because "it just didn't feel right". Back then he was a Hollywood star and she was virtually unknown outside Britain."
