Karl Lagerfeld wants to direct his own movie.

The busy German fashion designer, who has his own range K Karl Lagerfeld as well as creatively directing CHANEL and Fendi, revealed he would love to follow in the footsteps of fellow designer Tom Ford - the man behind Oscar-nominated movie 'A Single Man' - and direct his own film.

He told Stylist magazine: "I'd still like to make a movie; work as an illustrator - it was my dream job when I was very young - try doing some advertising. Learn photography, do some sketching, more reading. 24 hours a day are a little Too Short for me."

The grey-haired sartorialist has also admitted he believes luxury is for a "few privileged people" with high-end fashion being a "complex thing" not designed for everyone.

He said: "People talk too much about luxury; it's a complex thing.

"The word is a 'front row' word. Just because something described as luxe costs a lot, it doesn't mean it's a luxury. It's a rare thing for a few privileged people."
