'Guardians of the Galaxy' star Karen Gillan opens up about anti-hero Nebula.
Probably one of the most criminally underrated characters of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise is Gamora's wayward sister Nebula, played by Karen Gillan. There's very much an 'is she evil or benign?' thing going on with her, which we get to the bottom of in the second film.
Karen Gillan stars as Nebula in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'
'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' dropped over the weekend, and with it we met a host of new characters and learnt a little bit more about some of the minor names of the 2014 movie. Nebula, loyal adopted daughter of the tyrannical Thanos and the rival sibling of Zoe Saldana's heroine character Gamora, is just one such example.

The Guardians of the Galaxy have returned for another interplanetary adventure, having decided to stick together after forming an unbreakable bond on their last journey. Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, Gamora and Groot (well... Baby Groot) are back but this time they are not alone. They are joined by Gamora's cynical and formerly evil sister Nebula, initially as a prisoner but then as a fully-fledged member of the team. Ravagers leader Yondu Udonta also join them, though not without trying to kill them first, and a new face in the form of Mantis is also among the new arrivals. Mantis happens to be the adoptive daughter of Ego - a mysterious being who Peter meets on his latest quest, and discovers that he is in fact his father. The team come against plenty of adversaries on their new adventures, but nothing compares to this confusing and unexpected meeting.

Dwayne Johnson presented the first look at upcoming adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle at CinemaCon on Monday night.
The film, which features Johnson alongside Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Jack Black and Kevin Hart, is a continuation rather than a reboot of the 1995 children’s classic which starred the late Robin Williams.

It's been two months since the Guardians of the Galaxy defeated the evil Ronan, and their prize is freedom and a clean criminal record. Finally. These guys are truly inseparable now; Baby Groot's (Vin Diesel) rebirth has meant that he has a lot of growing up to do and is relying on Rocket (Bradley Cooper) to keep him on the straight and narrow (not that he's great with kids or anything), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) hasn't changed a bit and Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), who is still using the name Star Lord, has started to develop seriously cuddly feelings towards the feisty Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Their latest mission is to track down Quill's alien father, but they are not alone. Joining them on their new galactic journey is Gamora's changeable sister Nebula (Karen Gillan), Quill's (kind of) adoptive father Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) and antennaed newcomer Mantis (Pom Klementieff).
Mae Holland (Emma Watson) is an ambitious young woman who lands a job at one of the most advanced technology corporations in the world led by the charismatic Bailey (Tom Hanks). The Circle is a company like no other, developing state of the art social and scientific technology such as cameras that allow a person's entire life to be streamed online, medicine that can cure almost anything, and tracking that can capture any criminal. The Circle's main opinion is that secrets are bad, privacy is not something that should be desired and all information should be freely available to all, but for a company who puts across such a message, its entire founding is shrouded in mystery. This lack of privacy idea is becoming an increasingly worrying prospect for Mae's mysterious colleague Kalden (John Boyega), who warns her of the implications of this new thought. But will she come to realise this before she sinks deeper into the company? Or will it be too late?

The Guardians return two months after their epic battle against Ronan with their criminal records erased and a feeling of peace with the knowledge that the highly destructive Infinity Stone is in the hands of Nova Corps. Groot is doing his best to grow up, but he has a lot to learn now that he has been reborn as Baby Groot and that's something that is a permanent frustration for his partner in crime Rocket. Meanwhile, Drax is still hopeless when it comes to sensitivity or discretion, making things very awkward for Peter Quill most of the time because he just can't keep his mouth shut about Quill's feelings for Gamora. This ragtag team have more serious things to deal with howevever; Quill has learned that he is actually only half-human, and his alien father of unknown origin resides somewhere in the cosmos.

Five of our favourite unlikely heroes re-assemble in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. The second instalment of the movie takes place only months after the first ended.
Having defeated Ronan and saved the universe from impending doom, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket and Groot are travelling through space together but keeping the small crew of rebels isn't going to be easy.
At the end of the first film, everybody thought that Groot was a gonner but thankfully is old buddies Groot made new roots and was saved.
Filming has just begun on the upcoming sequel.
Kevin Hart has given fans their first look at the new Jumanji sequel which is scheduled to hit cinemas next year. Last month star Dwayne Johnson made it clear that the film would be a sequel to the 1995 children’s classic, which starred Robin Williams, rather than a reboot as some had originally thought.
Paul is a loner who travels the west with only his dog and horse for company. As ex-military man, he spends his days alone and decides to head towards the Mexican border. The drifter lands in a small ex-mining town called Denton and it doesn't take long for Paul to find enemies.
The town is led by the Sheriff who generally wants to keep the moneyless town free of violence - the town's biggest problem is the Sherriff's son, Gilly, who's constantly in bother and leads a ragtag group of misfit into trouble. Not knowing who he's coming against, Gilly starts a rivalry with Paul and the two fight.
As usual, the sheriff cleans up Gilly's mess and tells Paul to leave, however Gilly cannot let belittling go and tracks down Paul. After a brutal yet quick meeting, Paul is left with nothing and swears revenge on Gilly. Now the whole town on Denton find themselves caught up in the middle of a violent and ongoing altercation.

The Tuesday night sitcom is the latest casualty in this year's cull of new comedies
The latest cancellation in this fall’s bonfire of TV sitcoms has been announced. Network ABC has decided not to renew Tuesday night’s ‘Selfie’ beyond its initial run of thirteen episodes.
'Selfie', starring Karen Gillan (above), was axed by ABC on Friday
The John Cho and Karen Gillan comedy joins its fellow Tuesday night companion ‘Manhattan Love Story’ on the scrapheap, although ‘Selfie’ will at least be seen through its existing commission. ‘Manhattan Love Story’, by contrast, was pulled immediately mid-season. Ouch.

The new 'Guardians of the Galaxy' teaser gives a glimpse into the new action movie.
A 15 second teaser trailer has been released for Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel's upcoming action epic, as fans wait patiently for a full-length trailer. The new teaser may be finished in virtually the blink of an eye but we're given a glimpse of just enough of the film to get that little bit more excited. For a start, we see a pretty hench Chris Pratt as his character Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, as well as some mind-boggling special effects and death-defying stunts.
The First Teaser Trailer Has Been Released For Upcoming Marvel Action Movie, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy.'
There has been a great deal of chatter on the internet regarding the potential success of Guardians of the Galaxy and whether it'll be Marvel's first flop movie. The concern partly stems from the notion that an entirely new host of characters are being introduced all at once without any precursors in other movies. Some say that GOTG will not do as well as Marvel's most successful film, The Avengers, because the characters have not had the individual movie back-stories like the Avengers did.
Award-nominated actors work through Super Bowl weekend, as Night at the Museum 3 takes to the streets of London, which also features in the A Long Way Down trailer. And we get glimpses of Owen's Blood Ties, more Rio action, a sinister Oculus and an eerie Maleficent theme song...
In the lull between big awards shows, media attention turns to Super Bowl halftime performances and adverts, while award-nominated actors and filmmakers travel around the world to squeeze in their next projects before Bafta and Oscar nights. Judi Dench is in India filming The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2 with the reunited cast from the original. Chiewtel Ejiofor is in New Zealand filming something top-secret. Cate Blanchett is taking a well-deserved holiday. Meanwhile, Ben Stiller and Robin Williams have been snapped on the streets of rain-swept London filming scenes for Night at the Museum 3. We braved the British weather to snap the filming in action.
We got our first glimpse of the comedy-drama A Long Way Down this week, with a new trailer that plays up the film's black humour and warm emotion. Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots play four people who meet as they're planning to end it all by leaping from a London skyscraper. In the media circus that follows, they make a pact to live for at least one more month. It looks funny and rather sweet, with the terrific cast on great form. It's out in March. Watch 'A Long Way Down' Trailer here.
Dramatic graphic art sets the scene for the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' August release.

Enrapturing Artwork Sets Our Imaginations Alight.

Say hello to the Twelfth Doctor: Peter Capaldi
There was a lot of promise surrounding the Christmas episode of Doctor Who and when it aired on BBC 1 on Christmas Day it very much lived up to the hype and expectation buzzing around the show and the exit of the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith. The exit of Smith also meant one other thing, the regeneration of the Doctor into his twelfth form: enter Peter Capaldi.
The Doctor had business to attend to before he could bow out
The Christmas special - called 'The Time of the Doctor,' in relation to the fiftieth anniversary episode 'The Day of the Doctor' - was full of action and packed in plenty of entertainment in the lead up to Smith's eventual bow out from the show that launched him to stardom. The episode featured Daleks, Time Lords, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, a town called Christmas and more and even Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), the Doctor's former assistant, made an appearance in the show to say farewell the Eleventh Doctor.

Unexhibited portraits to go on show at National Portrait Gallery as part of 'Stardust' exhibition.
The National Portrait Gallery will play host to a retrospective of the world-renowned fashion photographer David Bailey with a 250-piece exhibition of famous faces to open next February. Bailey's 'Stardust' exhibition will feature a previously unseen photographic portrait of supermodel Kate Moss, as well as rooms dedicated to The Rolling Stones, his wife Catherine Bailey, and his recent trip to India.
An Unseen Photograph Of Kate Moss Will Feature As Part Of Baileye's 'Stardust' Exhibition.
Photographs of Blur's Damon Albarn, the Stones' Mick Jagger, actor Jack Nicolson, and intimate shots of Bailey's long-time muse Jean Shrimpton will also feature in one of the gallery's largest scale exhibitions the London gallery has ever hosted. The photographer is also said to be making some special new silver gelatin prints of his black and white portraits especially for the purposes of the exhibition. Bailey's relationship with Shrimpton inspired the drama We'll Take Manhattan that starred Karen Gillan and Aneurn Barnard as Jean and David.
Lee Pace and Karen Gillan talk about being on set of their new movie 'Guardians of the Galaxy' during a red carpet interview at Comic-Con in San Diego. Karen is proudly showing off her new closely shaved head which she opted for on the film.
To be honest, we're looking forward to this more than we are Disney's other sci-fi series; Star Wars
The next major Marvel franchise to make the leap from printed page to the big screen will be the slightly unknown series Guardians of the Galaxy, which is expected to hit cinemas in 2014. Whilst the comic series might not be as popular as say Spider Man or The Avengers, the cast line-up is littered with acting talent that is frankly out of this world adn to be honest, we're struggling to hide our excitement for it.
The latest edition to the cast was announced on Monday (June 3) by Deadline, with Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro apparently signing a 'multi-movie' deal with Marvel and Disney that will see him become a regular in the Marvel Movie Universe. His role has not been specified, however a number of other cast members have had their roles revealed, including fellow newcomer to the cast Glenn Close, who was chosen to portray one of the heads of the intergalactic space patrol the film/comic centres around, the Nova Corp (most likely Xandarian Worldmind).
Last week also saw the announcement that Doctor Who star Karen Gillan will be taking on the role of one of the film's major villains, with first announced cast-member Lee Pace taking on the second villain spot. John C. Reilly has also been announced as a cast member, with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Michael Rooker also lined up to take on roles within the Nova Corp. As most of the characters are alien species though, there's a good chance that many of these actor will be getting the Mark Ruffalo CGI-treatment and have their features changed to fit in with comics. As long as it works as well as it did for Hulk, we say go for it.
Maybe the Doctor will finally be ginger this time.
Fans of Doctor Who better say their goodbyes to the show’s star Matt Smith, who will be leaving his role at the end of the season. Smith’s Doctor will regenerate during the 2013 Christmas special and get a brand new body (or in non-Doctor Who terms, a new actor will come in to fill the role.) Smith has been playing the Doctor for the past four seasons of the show (where did the time go?) having taken over from David Tennant in 2010. As you might imagine, that wasn’t an easy transition for the fans. There is likely to be a lot of nostalgia for “the old Doctor Who” after this change as well. As for Matt Smith, he has no regrets, saying for BBC news that working on the show has been "the most brilliant experience".
This season of the show is filled with surprises and big events for the Whovian community. After the show introduced a new companion to the Doctor, played by Jenna-louise Coleman, its 50th anniversary special is due during the series’ fall season. Smith has already filmed the special episode, which will feature cameo appearances by DW alumni David Tennant and Billie Piper. Referring to his time-travelling companions, Amy (Karen Gillan), Rory (Arthur Darvill) and Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), Smith said: "It's been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the Tardis for a spell with 'the ginger, the nose and the impossible one'. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go..."
During the announcement of Smith’s departure, head writer Steven Moffat expressed his admiration for the youngest actor to ever play the Doctor: "Every day, on every episode, in every set of rushes, Matt Smith surprised me. The way he'd turn a line, or spin on his heels, or make something funny, or out of nowhere make me cry - I just never knew what was coming next.
