Kanye West's protege Mr Hudson is hoping to seal his comeback by hiring actors including Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Hiddleston to lend their voices to his music.

The British singer was propelled to stardom when the rapper signed him to his record label in 2008, but has not released a new solo album since Straight No Chaser, which hit stores in Britain in 2009 and in the U.S. the following year (10).

Hudson has spent the last few years writing music for other artists, including Paloma Faith and Eliza Doolittle, but is now finishing work on his third solo album.

His past collaborators have included his mentor West and fellow rapper Jay Z, and he is now hoping to recruit some entirely different stars, namely Oscar-winning British actress Dame Helen and Thor's Hiddleston, to add another dimension to the record.

He tells British newspaper the London Evening Standard, "I'm just looking at looking at getting some features and some different flavours - not just the usual 'call up a few rappers and try and get them on there'.

"I want to do, almost for the sake of having different textures, some actors speaking over the music. I'm really into that at the moment. Imagine having Helen Mirren or Tom Hiddleston doing that. I want some really British flavours as I'm known for working with Americans.

"Tom, if you're reading this, holla for the dolla! (sic) It's just about getting people with really interesting voices to talk over. I'd love them to just improvise. The whole featured thing has been played out, so I'd like to twist it and turn it a bit."
