Kanye West was among the mourners paying tribute to poet and jazz legend Gil Scott-Heron at a memorial service in Harlem, New York on Thursday (02Jun11).
The rapper performed an emotional rendition of his Lost in The World tune, which samples Scott-Heron's poem Comment#1, at Harlem's Riverside Church.
The late icon's longtime backing musicians also performed a medley of his most famous songs Better Days Ahead and The Bottle.
Scott-Heron's daughter Gia read an inspired piece of prose she'd written for her father, called Time, and dedicated a rendition of Bette Midler's The Rose to her father, who died last week (ends27May11).
