Kanye West is trying to forge a little position for himself in the fashion world.
Another week, another Kanye West rant about something ridiculous: this time, Louis Vuitton's designer shoes.
Speaking on Big Boy's Los Angeles radio talk show on Monday morning, Kanye said that if given the opportunity he would not collaborate with the fashion house again because the French label is too expensive and sets a bad example of spending habits for his young fans.
"If I had the opportunity to design for Louis Vuitton now I wouldn't because the prices are just too extreme," he said.
Kanye collaborated with the leather goods brand in 2009 on a line of upmarket sneakers. The designs ranged from $840 to $1,140.
But now, West says he wants to avoid sending out a "message to have kids saving up that much to be a part of what [my] ideas are."
Though West told Big Boy that he didn't "totally agree with what H&M and Zara does" - presumably get clothes made for pennies - he does appreciate how "they were able to break that idea that creativity, that these things you really want to have [doesn't need to] cost a million dollars."
West recently launched a co-opted collection with the French casual brand A.P.C, including a plain white t-shirt at $120 and a hoodie at $280. The line sold out within days of release.
The rapper's eponymous label was rumored for a return during the spring 2014 fashion weeks, though so far, nothing has materialized.
Kanye made headlines last month following a ridiculous interview with BBC Radio's Zane Lowe in which he professed his fashion design talents. "I have a very particular take on men's footwear," he explained.
