With ‘American Idol’ now in its final series the time is running out for emerging musical talents to audition for a place on the talent show. So its no wonder that Kanye West decided the time was right for him to appear in front of the ‘Idol’ judges, after all, it really is now or never.

Yes the self proclaimed greatest living rockstar, Yezzus himself Kanye West decided to audition for the reality competition’s final series this weekend, shocking the judges.

Kanye performed a rendition of his hit ‘Golddigger’ for the panel, made up of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr, But the question remains, will he make it through to the finals?

Judge Jennifer Lopez seemed to particularly enjoy West’s performance, especially when it came to the lyric, ‘My psychic told me she have an ass like Serena, Trina, Jennifer Lopez’.

West’s wife Kim Kardashian shared the news of her husband’s audition on Instagram, posting a pic of the rapper in front of the judging panel with the caption, ‘surprise!’ Host Ryan Seacrest also shared an image of West on twitter, showing the two high-fiving after what we presume was a successful audition.

Its been a busy weekend for the rapper, who on Saturday performed in front of President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Comittee fundraiser. During his speech Obama offered West some words of advice, following his announcement that he intends to run for office in 2020.

“In case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS thing, or, as Kanye calls it, ‘peezy', you’ve got to deal with strange characters who behave as if they are on a reality TV show,” Obama said. “Saying you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy — that’s what’s known as off-message in politics,” he added referring to Kanye's 2010 album.

The President then ended his speech with one last joke, asking, “Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the U.S.?”
