Pop hunk Justin Timberlake and duo Gnarls Barkley were the big winners at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Copenhagen, Denmark last night (02NOV06), taking home two gongs each.
American acts dominated the awards, with only three non-US acts - French DJ JUSTICE VS SIMIAN and English bands Muse and Depeche Mode - winning in the main categories.
Timberlake hosted the main part of the awards in the city's Bella Center, while R+B KELIS introduced the performances in the outdoor stage at the Radhuspladsen (City Hall Square).
The former 'N Sync opened the show with a medley of SEXYBACK, MY LOVE and LOVE STONED, before performances from The Killers, Snoop Dogg, MUSE, Nelly Furtado, Keane, Rihanna, and Jet.
British comedian AVID MERRION caused controversy after emerging from a giant discoball dressed as Madonna in a pink leotard, before dancing to her hit HUNG UP with small men dressed up as African babies, dubbed 'eBay-bies'. Merrion poked fun at the MATERIAL GIRL's recent adoption of Malawian tot DAVID, by saying, "I want to buy a baby because I'm Madonna."
