Director Justin Lin talks about his new movie 'Fast & Furious 6' in an interview in London. He discusses the scale of the new film, new cars that are introduced and his feelings about handing over the next movie to another director.
He talks about wanting to always try and 'take it to the next level'. 'At the heart of it, is not losing sight of the fact of why this franchise is successful and evolve that. theme of family', he says. He talks about wanting to design a particular character for this movie's antagonist Owen Shaw: 'I realised this is not a character that would modify a car, this is a character that would actually build a car so when I went to Dennis [McCarthy - picture car coordinator] I said, 'Hey, I need you to design a car but not only from ground up, it's gonna need to flip other cars.' He took it upon himself.' On walking away from the film, he says it's an emotional decision. 'I've grown up making 'Fast & Furious' films and it's become a big part of my growth as a filmmaker', he explains. 'It's also allowed me to be in a place right now where I can do a lot of different things and all this I owe to this franchise.'
