Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, has been asked to join 'American Idol' by producers and Jennifer Lopez.
Justin Bieber's manager has been asked to join 'American Idol'.
Show producers and judge Jennifer Lopez have been actively pursuing Scooter Braun, who also looks after Carly Rae Jepsen and The Wanted, as they hope he will be able to help them choose a new superstar when the reality TV show returns next season.
A source told TMZ: ''Executives believe the show has lost its way by sinking their fortunes on the judges. The research is clear - viewers want to see the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood emerge from the pack.''
However, friends of Scooter insist he is reluctant to join because he doesn't want to become too famous and he enjoys ''being able to go to the grocery store under the radar''.
The approach to Scooter comes after it was revealed Kanye West was recently offered a spot on the judging panel of the FOX series for its 13th season but turned it down, as he was worried it would damage his reputation.
A source said: ''He didn't want to go that mainstream. He didn't want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.''
