Justin Bieber has asked his fans to stop bugging him for pictures, taking to social media to complain about feeling like a “zoo animal” when he’s out and about.

In a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday evening (May 10th), he said that fans continually asking him for pictures had become intolerable. It means he’s taken another step to retain his privacy, following his decision back in March to cancel all future meet-and-greets with his fans.

“If you happen to see me out somewhere know that I'm not gonna take a picture I'm done taking pictures,” he wrote. “It has gotten to the point that people won't even say hi to me or recognize me as a human, I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity.”

While the 22 year old singer realised that this move would leave his legions of Beliebers “disappointed”, he argued that he doesn't “owe anybody a picture”.

“And people who say 'but I bought ur album' know that you got my album and you got what you paid for AN ALBUM!” he continued. “It doesn't say in fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo.”

Bieber’s outburst was apparently triggered by an incident earlier in the day in Boston at Lucky Strike, where he went to play pool with a friend the afternoon before his concert in the city on Tuesday. While there, he became upset when a family approached him and insisted on a photograph with the star, implying that they were owed it because they had bought his album.

“We want every guest to feel comfortable when they enter Lucky Strike and wholeheartedly feel that Justin deserves to have his privacy respected,” the manager of the venue told People.
