Cancellation rounds off a grim few days in Europe for teenager star
Justin Bieber and Europe just aren’t getting along. After one of the worst weeks of his career in the UK, the 19 year-old old star has had a concert in Portugal cancelled with some suggesting that the reason for the pull is because of poor ticket sales.
Bieber was scheduled to play tonight (March 11) at Lisbon’s Pavilhão Atlântico but according to The Guardian, the show has been pulled due to what has been described vaguely as “unforeseen circumstances” though it's being linked to a distinct lack of interest. The news comes just when Bieber thought his woes were behind him after a UK tour that saw him turned away from night clubs, refused appearance fees, late shows on stage and confrontations with the paparazzi. Bieber has tweeted that "Sometimes when people r shoving cameras in your face all day and yelling the worst thing possible at u … well I'm human.” He went on to insist “The press made things look nuts but really I have enjoyed London."
If it’s any consolation to Bieber, he’s not the only huge American star who has struggled to impress in the UK. Back in 2011 one-time pop royalty Britney Spears was dismayed to find that the opening night of her tour at the O2 Arena in London was watched by an arena only slightly more than half full. It’ll be a test of Bieber’s mettle to see how he reacts to what he’ll hoping is just a blip in his career.
