Justin Bieber fans launched an online tirade against jazz performer Esperanza Spalding after the 16-year-old pop sensation was beaten to the 'Best New Artist' award at last night's Grammy Awards.
JUSTIN BIEBER was left disappointed at last night's GRAMMY AWARDS (13th February 2011) after he failed to take home the 'Best New Artist' award, despite being the heavily favoured nominee. The decision led to his fans launching an online tirade against the eventual winner ESPERANZA SPALDING, reports MTV News. The 16-year-old admitted he was upset not to take home the GRAMMY AWARD, saying, "I had no clue what was going to happen; I worked really hard these past few years and you know, I'm not going to lie - I was disappointed. But, you know, I'm gonna come back next year and we'll take a few home. I'm inspired to work harder than I did last year. It's going to be hard, but I'm going to try. Bieber fans, don't get too upset. Be happy". However, his fans took to their Twitter pages to vent their frustration, and MTV reported that one unhappy follower left a message on Spalding's page that read, "ALL THE BELIBERS HATE YOU!!! NOBODY KNOWS YOUUU!!!! WHO THE HELL ARE YOOOOUU?? FU-- YOU .I. HATE YOU". Another typed, "FOUND HER, THIS IS THE PSYCHO B---H THAT BEAT THE BIEBER, LET'S KILL HER. #12yearoldfangirlmoment @EspeSpalding".
Spalding, a multi-instrumentalist hailing from Portland, Oregon, seemed unperturbed by the messages, tweeting this morning, "What an amazing night!!!!".
