One of Justin Bieber’s fans paid for his meal at Subway after the pop star’s credit card was embarrassingly declined, it has been reported.

The 22 year old Canadian pop icon was left a bit red-faced after the incident at a Subway shop in West Hollywood on Wednesday morning (August 31st). He had ordered a foot-long sandwich, four bottles of milk and cookies while his rumoured girlfriend, Sofia Ritchie, waited in the car outside.

Fortunately, somebody in the store was a Belieber and promptly stepped in to pay for their hero’s meal. An unnamed source told the Daily Mail that the loyal fan “recognised Justin and jumped in to pay for his order”.

A number of bodyguards were waiting outside the store at 8859 Sunset Boulevard this morning, keeping potentially over-zealous fans at a safe distance.

More: Justin Bieber returns to Instagram, two weeks after deleting his account

Bieber isn’t the only celeb to have had an awkward encounter with a temperamental credit-card machine. Last month, British singer Adele admitted to her audience in California that her credit card had been declined after a shopping spree in H&M.

Currently taking a short break from his Purpose World Tour (scheduled to end in London on November 29th), Bieber has been romancing his rumoured new girlfriend Ritchie by jetting off with her to Los Cabos in Mexico for her 18th birthday last week.

Bieber also recently returned to Instagram and then quickly disappeared again, after having briefly deleted his account and left the social photo-sharing site two weeks ago when some of his fans made disparaging comments about Ritchie. According to him, reactivating his account earlier this week was “a mistake”.
