CBGB Trailer

In 1973, New York nightclub CBGB opened as a venue for Country, BlueGrass and Blues acts led by music entrepreneur Hilly Kristal. However, it soon became clear that that wasn't the way the music scene was going in the city and he soon began to book new rock and punk bands - excluding all cover and tribute bands - to play regular shows there which helped raise the profile of several musical pioneers including Talking Heads, Blondie, The Ramones and the Patti Smith Group. It wasn't the easiest ride for Kristal, however, who suffered many money troubles due to his vision and ambition for the bands that he showcased, as well as much scrutiny over the general poor health and safety of the venue. Nonetheless (and despite its closure in 2006), it will always been known as the kick off point for so many 70s and 80s bands.

Randall Miller ('Nobel Son', 'Bottle Shock', 'Houseguest') directs this music drama alongside his frequent writing partner Jody Savin as it follows the highs and lows of Hilly Kristal's life and ambition to give innovative local bands a chance at success. The movie will premiere at the CBGB Festival over its October 10th-13th weekend; not far off the anniversary of its 2006 official closure.

The Hangover Part III Review

Bad

For the final instalment of the trilogy, filmmaker Todd Phillips takes a sharp left turn, abandoning the formula of the first two movies to send the Wolf Pack on a road thriller that isn't remotely funny. A few wacky moments are provided by the actors, but there isn't one punchline in the entire film. And it doesn't really work as a thriller either, since there's no real suspense.

Once again it starts in Los Angeles, where everyone has recovered from their antics in Bangkok. But Phil, Stu and Doug (Cooper, Helms and Bartha) are worried that Alan (Galifianakis) is refusing to grow up, so they hold an intervention and set out to drive him to a desert retreat. On the way, they're waylaid by mobster Marshall (Goodman), who holds Doug hostage to force the the Wolf Pack to find renegade nutcase Chow (Jeong), who has stolen Marshall's stash of gold bars. They track Chow to Mexico, but things quickly get even messier as Chow slips through their fingers. And to catch him, they'll have to return to the scene of their original adventure: Las Vegas.

There isn't much to the screenplay, which is a series of action scenes and caper-style set-pieces strung together with rapid-fire dialog and general vulgarity. But while the film is expertly shot and edited, with a solid cast and terrific settings, there simply isn't any actual humour. No one gets drunk, so there's no hangover this time. And the only amusing moments are offhanded character bits that are utterly irrelevant to the nonsensical chaos of the plot. Which kind of makes us wonder why we ever found these losers so hilarious to begin with.

The New Normal's Justin Bartha Is Engaged To Lia Smith

Justin Bartha

With summer approaching, celebrity engagements just keep coming, with Justin Bartha reportedly being the latest A-lister to get down on one knee. The Hangover actor is engaged to LA fitness instructor Lia Smith, according to a report by Us Weekly, after he proposed to her earlier this month while on vacation at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, Calif., an insider tells the magazine. Apparently the two lovebirds decided to take advantage of the beautiful California spring, while taking some time away from the city.

"They're the cutest couple. She was completely surprised by the whole thing," the source comments. "The trip to Big Sur, the engagement, the ring, everything. So cute."

First CGBG Movie Shots Revealed [Pictures]

Malin Akerman Taylor Hawkins Joel David Moore Rupert Grint Alan Rickman Justin Bartha

The first pictures of the potentially dodgy looking CBGB movie have been revealed, showing the film's stars filming in the specially built CBGBs nightclub set up. Obviously the most notable star here is Malin Akerman who is shown as Blondie's Debbie Harry for the first time - she's seen here in the below photo with Taylor Hawkins, who plays proto-punk pioneer and general gadabout Iggy Pop.

Hawkins of course is a member of a band in real life - the Foo Fighters. The Ramones are another band set to appear in the film, with Joel David Moore, Steven Schub and Julian Acosta set to portray Joey, DeeDee and Johnny Ramone respectively. Twilight star Ashley Greene is also onboard to play Lisa Kristal, daughter of the CBGB owner Hilly Kristal. You can see what she's looking like in the gallery link at the bottom of the article.

The Hangover III Trailer

Alan Garner is going through real emotional trauma when his beloved father passes away. Following the funeral, his friends Stu, Phil and Doug decide to take him back to Las Vegas to recuperate with the hope that previous experience and lack of upcoming weddings will prevent them from getting into any major trouble again with gangs or escaped wild animals. However, that hope is soon shattered when they are jumped by a brutal gang who demand to know where they can find their flamboyant gangster friend Leslie Chow who has allegedly stole $21 million dollars. As expected, the Wolfpack end up in enormous, but hilarious, trouble yet again which leads them to question their friendship ties and vacation choices. Will the foursome survive Sin City this time round? And will Alan find the peace he's looking for?

The Wolfpack returns in the last instalment of this side-splitting trilogy. Academy Award nominated director Todd Phillips ('Road Trip', 'Due Date') returns once more with the co-writer from 'Part II', Craig Mazin ('Identity Thief', 'Superhero Movie', 'Scary Movie 4'). It looks to be a spectacular end to the film series as the foursome's previous alcohol-fuelled vacations come back to haunt them. It is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on May 24th 2013.

The Hangover Part III - Teaser Trailer

Stu, Phil, Alan and Doug return to Las Vegas in the hilarious third instalment of 'The Hangover' movie series. Nobody's getting married this time, but if you think the absence of a bachelor party will calm this lot down, you are so wrong. Following the events of 'The Hangover' which saw them get attacked by gangsters, mauled by a tiger, tasered by cops and inadvertently married, and of course the events of 'The Hangover Part II' which took them to Thailand where they got tattooed, shot by Russian mobsters and had sex with transgender hookers, the conclusion to this trilogy doesn't look to fare much better as these wild boys set out for one last mayhem-fuelled weekend in Sin City.

Dark Horse Review

Very Good
Solondz takes another hilariously pitch-black exploration of human behaviour with a film populated by excellent actors playing seriously messed-up characters. And it can't help but force us to look at how we interact with people around us.

Even though he's essentially a pampered slacker, Abe (Gelber) exudes confidence, relentlessly going after the depressed Miranda (Blair) despite her hesitance. Living in the shadow of his successful doctor brother (Bartha), Abe works for his father (Walken), but does virtually nothing and resents the fact that his hard-working cousin (Booth) gets the credit. But then Abe feels hard-done by everyone he encounters, creating an arch-rival in Miranda's ex (Mandvi). But at no point does Abe's inner life come close to the reality around him.
