Juliette Lewis is thrilled her individuality is helping her become a rock icon, because it cost her a promising acting career.

The actress-turned-singer believes her refusal to conform to Hollywood ideals made movie moguls question her box office power - despite her Oscar-nominated performance in CAPE FEAR aged just 18.

But she is relieved her erratic personality is perfect for making music.

She says, "Film-makers wanted me, but studios didn't, because I'm not familiar or predictable.

"I was never the It girl. I almost could've been, had I worn the right dresses and talked the talk, but I was never good at that.

"I could act, I could work with film-makers, I bonded with the crew.

"And that's why, believe it or not, I'm built for the rock'n'roll touring lifestyle. I understand people."
