U.S. Tv reporter Julie Chang has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is preparing to undergo surgery to have it removed.
The journalist, who works on Fox news show Good Day La, found out about the growth when it showed up on a scan which she underwent after suffering recurring headaches following a surfing accident in September (13).
A statement from Chang, read out by her co-workers on Monday's (18Nov13) programme, says, "L.A., thank you. If it wasn't for my move to southern California, I would've never taken up surfing, which in a way, may have saved my life.
"I promise I will return stronger and who knows, maybe smarter! In the next few days and weeks, the tumour will go, the hair will grow back. I will recover with the warmth you have given me since my first day."
