Julianne Moore has been named 'Woman of the Year' by Harvard University's theatrical 'Hasty Pudding' fraternity.
JULIANNE MOORE, the 50-year-old actress and star of the recent hit comedy 'The Kids are All Right', this week attended a ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she picked up the honour of 'Woman of the Year', reports the UK's Daily Mail.
Moore was presented with a bouquet of flowers from an all-male group dressed in traditional drag. Each year, the fraternity gives out the awards for both 'Male' and 'Female' of the year and the actress takes over from last year's winner, Anne Hathaway. The recipient of the prize is usually honoured by way of a parade but this year's high snowfall meant that Moore had to settle for a simple photo-call. The 'Hasty Puddings' are one of the oldest theatrical societies in the United States and are best known for their flamboyant musicals and burlesque performances.
Previous members of the fraternity include the actor Jack Lemmon and former US President THEODORE ROOSEVELT. The winner of this year's 'Man of the Year' award was the television host JAY LENO.
