Julianna Margulies came in for heavy criticism on Twitter for her Armani Prive gown she wore to the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening (18th September 2011). The white strapless dress bewildered critics and US Weekly Magazine included the actress in their top three 'worst dressed'.
Margulies took most of the blame for the dress, which featured large clear jewels, claiming she only chose the gown the night before the ceremony. Twitter users compared the creation to, among other things, a space robot and a waste paper basket. However, attention soon turned to the actress' awards success as she scooped 'Best Actress in a Drama Series' for her role in The Good Wife. During her acceptance speech, she thanked husband Keith Lieberthal, quipping she loved being his "good wife". US Weekly also singled out Heidi Klum for their 'worst dressed' shortlist, slamming her beige Christian Siriano ruffled gown and claiming she wasn't "immune to a fashion fail". Glee actress Hayma Mays wore a pink Zuhair Murad dress, but the outfit was met with hostility and some Twitter critics claimed she resembled a ballerina or a high school student attending prom night.
Those considered the evening's "best dressed" included big winner Kate Winslet and the 'Mad Men' actress Christina Hendricks. Gwyneth Paltrow and Olivia Munn also gained positive feedback.
