Julian Lennon Snubbed Beatles Anniversary Celebrations

Julian Lennon Beatles

Julian Lennon refused to join the Beatles 50th anniversary celebrations in America last week (ends09Feb14) because he had no interest in taking part in a celebrity "karaoke" session.

Famous fans joined Sir Paul MCCartney and Ringo Starr to celebrate 50 years since the band's arrival in the U.S. with an all-star Grammys tribute concert, which was televised in America on Sunday (09Feb14), but John Lennon's eldest son refused to join his half-brother Sean and Yoko Ono in the audience.

Lennon tells Brooklynvegan.com, "To me, the last thing I wanted to do was stand in the audience with everybody else... clapping my hands and being filmed in front of millions while watching a Beatles karaoke session."

Julian Lennon Recreates Imagine Shoot

Julian Lennon

Julian Lennon has recreated his father John's iconic image in the promo for classic track Imagine by posing for photographs at a white grand piano.

The musician/artist invited his close pal, British socialite Tamara Beckwith, and a snapper inside his holiday home in the south of France for a feature in Hello! magazine.

He was photographed cooking in his kitchen, relaxing on the sun-drenched terrace, and playing his guitar in the mansion's studio, but the most striking pictures came when the shoot moved to his bedroom and he conjured up an eerie image of his famous dad.

Julian Lennon Worried About Repeating John's 'Mistakes'

Julian Lennon John Lennon

Julian Lennon doesn't want to repeat the ''mistakes'' his father John Lennon did.

The 49-year-old singer was the result of the late Beatles legend's first marriage to Cynthia Powell, and he admits he always delayed having children because he did not want to do the same things his parents did when they were young.

He said: ''I didn't want to follow certain things dad had done because dad's mother died when he was 17 and so on. So I didn't want to have children so early in life and I wanted to learn about life a little more ... I didn't want to make the same mistakes, basically.

Julian Lennon Despises Biopics About Dad

Julian Lennon John Lennon Beatles

Julian Lennon refuses to watch biopics about his father John Lennon because inaccuracies about The Beatles legend infuriate him.

Singer Julian, John's son with his first wife Cynthia, has no interest in watching biographical films about the rocker as they tarnish treasured memories of his dad.

He tells Britain's Metro newspaper, "I don't watch them. I know him from when I was with him and from being with (half-brother) Sean and (Lennon's widow) Yoko, so it's redundant for me to see a film only to get upset at the misinformation in there."

Julian also admits he can't bear to visit statues of the Imagine hitmaker, adding, "Another annoyance is seeing statues in honour of my dad, which is a nice sentiment but sometimes they don't look anything like him. Some of them are monstrous. Just because it's of a man with long hair, round glasses and a beard doesn't mean they look like him."
