An anonymous donor has offered a generous $1 million reward for ‘credible information’ which will help recover the the pair of Judy Garland’s red sequinned, ruby slippers which were stolen from a museum in her hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota back in 2005.

According to the Associated Press, the reward offered requires the exact location of the slippers as well as the perpetrator’s name. The slippers were stolen nearly a decade ago when a thief broke into the museum which had been loaned the ionic piece of memorabilia from owner Michael Shaw.

At the time the slippers were insured for $1 million, but experts say they could be worth between $2 million and $3 million today. John Kelsch, executive director of the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, said the anonymous donor is from Arizona and is a huge fan of Garland and the Oscar winning 1939 musical.

Three other authentic pairs of the slippers still exist including one which was given away by studio MGM in a 1939 promotional contest. Another pair was sold at auction in May 1970 for a reported $15,000. That pair was later anonymously donated to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC and has been part of the museum’s collection since 1979.
