Dame Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw were ordered to keep details of their West End play Peter And Alice a secret while on set of the latest Bond film.

Skyfall screenwriter John Logan hired Dench and Whishaw, who played spy chief M and gadget master Q respectively in the movie, to bring his new production to life in London's theatre district.

The play, based on the real life characters who inspired Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, debuted to rave reviews on Monday night (25Mar13), but Logan reveals the trio did not chat about the production while making the latest Bond installment.

He tells the London Evening Standard, "I met Judi and Ben through Skyfall - we knew we were doing this play but we didn't talk about it. It was our own little private 007 secret. It was locked down - very quiet."

Whishaw adds, "John gave the script to me when we were making Skyfall. But I didn't really speak much to him during Skyfall. I didn't see Judi at all so it feels quite separate from Skyfall, but I know for a lot of people it will be like, 'Q and M are in this play.'"
