Judge Judy, real name Judy Sheindlin, is recovering in hospital after suffering a health scare yesterday, reports the Los Angeles Times.The star of the legal show 'Judge Judy', was working at her Hollywood studio when she suddenly began complaining of "intestinal discomfort". She was immediately taken to hospital and was in a "serious condition", according to the Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott. The 68-year-old attempted to explain her sudden illness, telling Tmz.com, "I'm just exhausted, and my body was telling me it needed a day to chill". She is expected to leave the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre tomorrow. It is currently unclear what exactly prompted Judge Judy to seek medical attention.
Judge Judy became a prosecutor in the family court system back in 1965. She was appointed as a judge in 1976 and was featured on CBS' '60 Minutes' in the 1990's, which led to her gaining a reputation for being a "tough judge". Since 1996, she has been presiding over her own syndicated courtroom show, which is now one of the highest ranked shows on U.S. television.
