Director/producer Judd Apatow kept his recent Golden Globes nomination a secret from his family as he didn't want to overshadow his daughter's birthday celebrations.
The Knocked Up filmmaker's latest movie, Bridesmaids, which he co-produced, will compete for the Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy prize at the upcoming ceremony, but Apatow admits he didn't share the happy news straight away.
He explains to, "(It) was my daughter Maude's 14th birthday, so I didn't tell anyone in my family about the nomination. I didn't want to distract from our morning festivities. I thought it would be rude to make it all about me... I'll celebrate (later) when it's daddy's time to shine. The nomination is completely unexpected. It's very fun."
