Joshua Jackson’s impressive list of TV roles is swelling further with the news that he’s joining the cast of The Affair. He’ll be joined by The Wire star Dominic West, as well as Maura Tierney and Ruth Wilson in the Showtime drama, E! reports.

Jackson plays a tough cowboy named Cole, who owns and runs a ranch in Long Island. A traditional man, the business is a family one and has been so for generations. He’s married to married to Allison (Wilson), a pancake house employee trying to get her life back together after suffering a tragedy.

Of course, the show is called The Affair, and a certain New Yorker named Noah (West) is the one providing the infidelity as he proves too much for Allison to resist. Emmy nominee Maura Tierney (ER) will play Helen, Noah's college sweetheart.

Jackson recently starred in Fringe, Fox’s acclaimed sci-fi drama in which he played the part of Peter Bishop. The show, which was created by Star Trek and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams, ended nearly a year ago in September 2012. He also recently starred in features Lay the Favorite and Inescapable.

He’ll always be famous for his breakthrough role as Pacey Witter in the teenage drama Dawson’s Creek. The show ran for six seasons and became something of a cult hit as crooning teenage angst stars James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams and Katie Holmes enjoyed some weirdly incestuous relationships around the small fictional seaside town called Capeside, Massachusetts.
