Frontman Josh Homme can't wait to get started on the band's next record with their new drummer Jon Theodore after they finish their co-headline tour with Nine Inch Nails.
In an interview with music website Faster Louder, he said: ''Recording really is the best part of it all because you are making something and chasing something.
''We don'[t really require much to get into the studio, and I think we took a long enough break between these [last] records that it will be nice to go for a while.''
The band - including Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore - have ''more than enough songs'' for a new LP, the follow-up to 2013's '...Like Clockwork' which has been nominated for an NME Award.
Josh continued: ''I haven't the slightest idea [exactly when it will happen]. I mean we are touring until September. And we have Jon as our new drummer and we want to play together and see what that means, and see what that does. Because there is so much there that is really exciting - that relationship.''
The 40-year-old musician has spoken about the difficulties faced while making the band's last record and how he had to sack drummer and friend Joey Castillo but he says the obstacles the band have overcome have made him eager to record again.
He added: ''The fact that it was hard and challenging didn't mean I didn't like it. It doesn't mean that I want to torture myself either.
''I'm not scared now to make a record I feel more empowered ... I want to get my hands dirty and that's make me happy.''
