Josh Brolin is to star in 'The Legacy of a Whitehall Deer Hunter'.

The 47-year-old actor has agreed to appear in the upcoming offbeat comedy movie, which will also feature comedic actor Danny McBride, according to Deadline.

The film will be directed and co-produced by Jody Hill - who has also co-written the project with John Carcieri - while Scott Rudin will also handle producing duties with McBride's Rough House production company.

No details about the potential plot are yet to be released.

Brolin has a slew of films coming out this year and will next be seen in crime drama 'Sicario' followed by mountaineering thriller 'Everest'.

The Hollywood star also recently got engaged to his assistant Kathryn Boyd - who also works as a model.

Brolin popped the question in March and the happy couple later celebrated their engagement with friends on a vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in May.

The couple are believed to have begun dating in March 2013 but didn't make their romance public until February 2014, when they were spotted kissing and cuddling while on a trip to Rome.

Brolin was previously married to Diane Lane and 'Beverly Hills Cop II' actress Alice Adair, with whom he has two adult children Trevor and Eden.
