Actor Josh Brolin has checked in to rehab to tackle his addiction issues, according to a U.S. report.

The No Country for Old Men star has sought professional help for substance abuse at a facility in Northern California.

A source tells Us Weekly magazine, "He realised he needed help and is committed to his sobriety."

The move comes after Brolin admitted he planned to quit booze after becoming embroiled in two bar fights over the same weekend earlier this month (Nov13). The 45 year old was caught on camera in a tussle with a security guard at an Irish pub in Santa Monica, California on 2 November (13), hours after he allegedly clashed with a taxi driver the previous evening.

When asked whether he was quitting alcohol after the incident, he said, "Absolutely. It won't be happening again. That's it. Completely done."
