The star of 'Don Jon' doesn't share the same mindset as her character
Scarlett Johansson stars as the romance-loving, porn-weary female lead in actor, writer and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt's first feature presentation Don Jon. Whilst her character in the film is well and truly opposed to the adult entertainment industry, Scarlett herself is actually a little more open minded in her opinions on pornography.
Scarlett's views on porn differ greatly to her character's
The stunning actress appears as the cover star of the next edition of Marie Claie UK and in her feature interview pornography - a prevalent and key theme from Don Jon - was inevitably one area where the magazine wanted her opinion on. Her opinion might have surprised a few people though, because not only does she think that porn is a viable business venture, but she also believes that it can be "enjoyed" and be "productive" for both men and women.
"I think porn, like anything else, can be enjoyed," she told the magazine during her interview. "It can be productive for both men and women."
Whilst she may be open to watching porn and sees nothing wrong with it,the actress did admit that it can potentially become a problem and stated that, in her opinion, a person can develop a dependancy on porn. JGL's character in Don Jon is obsessed with pornography and watches it to excess, an amount that even Scarlett would find uncomfortable to deal with. She revealed, "If I found out my boyfriend watched that much porn, I would be totally flabbergasted, for sure."

She continued in her interview to discuss the types of pedestals we adopt for our significant others, and how they in turn make relationships go sour, as is the case in Don Jon. She said, "I can certainly relate to this habit of wanting your partner to just kind of fit into this mould you’ve made for them. We do place pressure on somebody to just do it the way we think it should be done."
"It takes a lot of growth and searching to understand that it is the differences in relationships that enrich and strengthen the relationship, that help us evolve as people and partners. I understand that conviction; I know that is something I am guilty of," she continued.
Don Jon is out in the UK on 15 November.
